PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a work from deforming and a weld zone from developing a crack during welding. SOLUTION: This welding machine is provided with a resistance seam welding machine body 20, a robot 30 for moving the work based on the predecided locus so that the work is moved along the welding scheduled line to as electrode 22 of the welding machine body 20 and a floating mechanism 40 fitted between work holding mechanisms 38a, 38b of the robot 30 and an arm part 32f for supporting the work holding mechanisms 38a, 38b and energized so as to return back to a prescribed position. In this way, even in the case of enlarging the difference between the electrode speed and the robot speed caused by the affect of disturbance, etc., and adding the tension, etc., from the electrode ring to the welding point of the work, the floating mechanism 40 is acted, in the case the tension, etc., tends to exceed the permissible range.
