PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an operator to control without consciousness picture quality deterionation which may occur in helical scanning by a multi-slice CT. SOLUTION: This device comprises an X-ray generating means 9 for radiating the X-ray toward an subject P in a shape of quadrangular pyramid, a detecting means 10 in which a plurality of detected elements for detecting the X-ray transmitted through the subject P and for obtaining projected data are arrayed in two-dimensional order, a scan controlling means 3 capable, when the X-ray generating means 9 scans the circumference of the subject P, of either ordinary scanning for scanning the subject P without moving in the direction of its body axis or helical scanning for scanning by moving in the direction of its body axis, a scan selecting means 2 for selecting either of the scanning modes in this scan control means 3, a slice number setting means 2 capable of setting the desired number of slices at will, and a slice number limiting means 3a for giving a predetermined limit to the maximum number of slices settable at the slice number setting means 2.
