PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a doubled polyester yarn having a soft fullness feeling and a light weight and further a moderate stretchability and suitable for a polyester union cloth excellent in attractive tailored appearance and a woven or a knitted fabric using the yarn. SOLUTION: This doubled polyester yarn is obtained by twisting crimpable conjugate multifilament yarn in which two components of polyester polymers different in heat shrinkability are joined in a side-by-side or a core-sheath. type in the direction S or Z at a first twist multiplierαrepresented by formula I within the range of 5,000-20,000 and at a number of first twists Ts, doubling two or more of the conjugate multifilament yarns and twisting the multifilament yarns in the direction opposite to the first twist direction at a number of final twists Tu represented by formula II of 50-150% based on the number of the first twist (final twist multiplier k=0.5-1.5). formula I: Ts=α.D-1/2 and formula II: Tu=k.Ts [Ts is the number of real twists turns/m);αis the first twist multiplier; D is the fineness (dtex) of the conjugate yarn; Tu is the number of real twists (turns/m)].
