ACTIVE MATRIX TYPE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active matrix type liquid crystal display device having an on-chip color filter structure which does not require black matrices. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device is constituted by forming a color filter layer 111 and an over-coating layer 120 on a passivation film 127 for protecting thin-film transistors(TFTs), forming pixel electrodes 106 on the over-coating layer, connecting the pixel electrodes via contact holes to the TFTs and forming common electrodes with the same layer as the layer of the pixel electrodes on the display region of a second substrate and is so constituted as to carry out the black display of liquid crystals.
