PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for displaying the necessary displacement time of an engine oil. SOLUTION: The reduction of soot production, viscosity increase, and total base number(TBN) in time intervals including measuring engine parameter such as an engine temperature 28, a fuel supply rate 30, an engine speed 32, and an engine load 34, can be estimated by calculation at time intervals, and an estimate value from the calculation can be accumulated by another loop. When the accumulations of soot production, the oil viscosity increase, or TBN reduction reach a given size of class to respective oil characteristics once, a display or a signal is sent to an engine operator, to show the requirement of oil displacement. Real time sensors such as an oil level sensor 40, soot sensor 42, and viscosity sensor 44 are supplemented to provide back up to estimation calculation.
