<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability by setting a temperature and a steam quantity corresponding to the kind of fabric by discriminating the kind of fabric by irradiating the fabric with light at the time of ironing. SOLUTION: The fabric is irradiated with light by a light emitting element 12 and an optical energy transmitted through or reflected from the fabric is received by a light receiving element 13. The output signal of the light receiving element is A/D converted by an A/D converter 14, the A/D converted signal is operated for discriminating the kind of fabric by a fabric kind discriminating part 15 and the optimum set temperature is outputted to a control part 16. Corresponding to the input from the fabric kind discriminating part 15 and a temperature detecting part 10 for detecting the temperature of a base part, the control part 16 automatically controls a heater part 9 so that the base part can keep the temperature optimum for the discriminated kind of fabric.</p> |
