PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a circuit capable of shifting to a movie mode processing at an early stage upon receiving a movie program by detecting a code showing a movie out of the program information multiplexed to broadcasting and improv ing the sensitivity of movie mode detection concerning a program corresponding to a code showing the detected movie. SOLUTION: An interlaced scanning signal inputted from an interlaced scanning signal input terminal 101 is guided to a progressive scanning converting circuit 102, a movie mode detecting circuit 103, and a program information decoder 104. The decoder 104 detects the code showing a movie out of the program information multiplexed to the prescribed scanning line of the vertical blanking feedback of the skip scanning signal to guide to the circuit 103. The circuit 103 detects the periodicity of a frame difference characteristics to a 2-3 pull down system, e.g. judges it to be a video and guides a judging result to the circuit 12. That it is a movie of the 2-3 pull down system is estimated by the detecting result of the decoder 104.
