PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preceding vehicle start informing device for a vehicle capable of judging the start of a preceding vehicle by detecting a specified position in front of a vehicle as detected by a spot sensor, and substantially reducing a cost therefor. SOLUTION: A preceding vehicle start informing device for a vehicle informing the start of a preceding vehicle during a vehicle stops following the preceding vehicle comprises; a stop decision means 7 deciding the stop of the vehicle on the basis of a detected result of a vehicle speed detecting means 1 of the vehicle; a sending means 2 sending a detected wave (a) to a front of the vehicle; a receiving means 3 receiving only predetermined reflected wave (b) from an article existing in a prescribed front position of the vehicle; a start decision means 8 deciding that the preceding vehicle in front of the vehicle start when the vehicle is decided in a stop state by the stop decision means 7, and when the reflected wave(b) is received at once and then come not to be received; and an inform means 6 informing to a driver the start of the preceding vehicle on the basis of a detected result by the start decision means 8.
