PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a thermal transfer sheet for securing the vacuum bonding uniformity between the thermal transfer sheet and an image receiving sheet when the thermal transfer is carried out without using a particle-like substance having the possibility of affecting the picture quality for an ink layer and forming an image of good picture quality. SOLUTION: A thermal transfer sheet is provided with an ink layer containing at least a pigment and a non-crystalline organic polymer and formed on a substrate, and a particle-like substance with the function of forming recesses and projections on the surface of the ink layer is not contained on the surface of the ink layer, and the tenpoint average surface roughness Rz on the surface of the ink layer is 0.5-5.0 μm. As a preferable embodiment, an intermediate layer containing the particle-like substance is formed between the substrate and the ink layer, and a wax is contained in the ink layer. |
