PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid developing a crack in a groove due to drying and prevent the beauty of logs from being marred by a method wherein the groove, which is formed on a log on its covering side joining gapless with a lower log, is made shallow as far as no contact with the lower log occurs and the bottom surface of which is worked smoothly, and slits formed on the top surface of the log are made intermittently so as to arrange wedges therein. SOLUTION: In a building, the structure of which is produced by stacking green logs horizontally, a groove E, which is formed on a log D on its covering side joining gapless with a lower log D, is made into a body groove E shallow as far as no contact with the lower log D occurs and the bottom surface of which has a small unevenness. Into notched portions (back splits C), which are formed on the top surfaces of the logs D facing to each other, wedges B for inducing cracks are driven. The worked back splits C are made intermittently towards the fiber direction of the log so as to control the development of cracks in order to suppress the cracks within the grooves C. Thus, no crack in the log D due to drying develops on its surface, resulting in keeping the beauty of the logs. The crack is checked in the slit C, resulting in allowing not to open the groove C.
