PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a compact integration of a heat exchanger sub-assembly in a header casing with good heat exchanging efficiency having a relatively simple structure and capable of manufacturing with a relatively small expenditure. SOLUTION: The integral header and heat exchanger assembly comprises a header casing 1 having a storage chamber 2 and a heat exchanger sub-assembly including two heat exchange passages 5, 6 separated from the sub-assembly therein, and brought into thermal contact with one another. In this case, the one passage 5 is a part of a first channel extended from a casing inlet to a casing outlet in the casing and has a spiral shape. The other passage 6 is a part of a second channel extended between the storage chamber and a casing connecting tube. The passages 6 also has a spiral shape, and its spiral passage is brought into thermal contact with at least one adjacent spiral turn of the passage 5. For example, the assembly can be used in an automotive air conditioner.
