PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element having a simple structure and capable of forming a bright picture throughout without producing flickering and uneven brightness on the picture, and a manufacturing method for it. SOLUTION: This organic EL element has plural conductor passages 28 penetrating through the inside and the outside of an insulating base 26 of glass, resin and the like formed in the base at a designated pitch, and is equipped with a back plate 24 provided on the insulating base 26 so as to individually bring it into contact with one side of the conductor passage 28. It has a transparent electrode 12 of ITO on the surface of a transparent base 10 of glass, quartz, resin and the like. A luminescent layer 20 comprising a hole transfer material 6, an electron transfer material 18 and organic EL materials serving as other luminescent materials is provided between the transparent electrode 12 and the back plate 24.
