PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tying device for line shaped material which is superior in durability and tying strength and with which a load on the line shaped material such as hose or a cable can be reduced, and a method for tying line shaped material. SOLUTION: A first electric band 2 to be wound around a plurality of tied hoses 20 and a second band 3 with low elasticity and high tensile resistance for tying the hoses 20 over the first band 2 together with the first band 2 are provided. The first band 2 is formed with a protrusion 2b protruding more toward the outer periphery than the second band 3 facing both sides in the width direction of the second band 3. A buckle 10 for tying and untying the second band 3 is provided. On both end parts in the width direction of the buckle 10, the buckle 10 is provided with a protrusive piece 10a formed round extending toward the outer peripheral side and protruding more toward the outer periphery than the other parts of the buckle 10. Both end parts 2c of the first band 2 is tapered, i.e., the more it is closer to the end in the width direction, the thinner it becomes.
