PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting apparatus, in which it is prevented that electromagnetic force acted in such direction to dam up the side leakage of molten metal, is weakened with induction current flowing on the end surfaces of cooling rolls and electric power needed to dam up the side leakage can be reduced. SOLUTION: On the peripheral ridge parts of the end surfaces 11a, 12a of the cooling rolls 11, 12 (the ranges, in which the induction current along the circumferential directions of the roll end surfaces 11a, 12a tends to flow), many slits 18 are arranged. As the other way, heat resistant insulating materials are protruded on the peripheral ridge parts of the end surfaces 11a, 12a of the cooling rolls 11, 12 (the ranges, in which the induction current along the circumferential directions of the roll end surfaces 11a, 12a tends to flow), and thus, the roll end surfaces 11a, 12a are left from electromagnet 16 by thickness of this insulating materials.
