PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simply structured, hard and inexpensive damping device sufficiently moved in relative relation during a large earthquake while a building is not shaken by a small earthquake or a small wind, having good controllability for various vibrations, high automatic recovery ability and no dirt, dust or rust damage even if used for a long time. SOLUTION: When large vibration moves a ball body 18 outward, first as shown in the drawing, the ball body 18 is fittingly received by a recessed spherical surface 49, and the ball body 18 runs over the recessed spherical surface 49 therefrom. At this time, a building weight is applied on a damping device 10, and a strong suppressing force is applied to this running-over movement. While receiving this suppressing force, the ball body 18 clashes with the recessed spherical surface 48 of a lower disk body 24 to run up. By the clashing of the ball body 18 with the recessed spherical surfaces 49 and 48 in sequence, shocks are doubly reduced, and damage to the building is prevented.
