PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily recognize not only faulty or inoperative parts but also deteriorated parts by a maintenance personnel by quantitatively detecting whether each mechanism part is in a normal state or an abnormal state. SOLUTION: A mechanism part 10 summarizes components of a printer 100, and comprises a paper feed system, a printing system, etc. A control part 20 controls the mechanism part 10, and has a RAM 22 and a ROM 24. A maintenance mode is used when maintenance personnel inspects each part of the printer 100. A paper feed time t1 is classified into three states of 'a normal state', 'a deteriorated state', and 'an abnormal state'. And, when this paper feed time t1 is in the deteriorated state, the control part 20 recognizes this state as normal when the current operation mode is set to the normal mode, and recognizes it as abnormal when the current operation mode is set to the maintenance mode. The recognition result of the control part 20 is displayed on a display part 50. Thus, the state of each part is quantitatively detected by using a detector. |
