PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a proximity field light generating element which can be manufactured by using a simple process and is excellent in light usage efficiency, in a high density optical memory using proximity field light, and an optical head. SOLUTION: A first thin film 25 composed of Al, an intermediate film 26 composed of SiN and a second thin film 27 composed of Al are formed on an output surface of a solid immersion lens 15 composed of material having high refractive index. A first aperture 25a is formed on the first thin film 25, a second aperture 27a is formed on the second thin film 27, and the are of the aperture 27a is smaller than that of the aperture 25a.
