PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent discharge between horizontal spaces from being interfered without reducing an operation margin. SOLUTION: In this PDP wherein discharge spaces in the display are partitioned vertically by a plurality of barrier ribs 29 spaced each other, a vertical space 31 sandwiched by the barrier ribs 29 is periodically narrowed in the vertical direction, and a surface discharge gap g1 is formed respective expanded parts 31A of the vertical space 31, main electrodes X and Y constituting an electrode pair for surface discharging are formed into a shape having a bus part 42 extending throughout the entire length of a screen in the horizontal direction and a branch part 41 extending from the bus part 42 in the vertical direction. The surface discharge gap g1 is defined by the adjacent branch parts 41 of the main electrodes and the gap direction is the direction intersecting the vertical direction. |
