PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of reducing the driving power in a dot inverted drive used in an active matrix liquid crystal display device, and its driving method. SOLUTION: The whole signal wires 14 are connected to a prescribed common electrode 16 through a second switching element 15, and the second switching element 15 is turned on during only a first period in a scanning period of prescribed scanning lines comprising the first period and a second period, and a signal based on the display information is applied on each signal wire 14, so that the voltage of the signal wire adjacent to the second period has a reverse polarity to a prescribed electric potential.
