PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a heat developable ultrahigh-contrast sensitive material having low fog (Dmin) and ultrahigh-contrast photographic characteristics independently of the shelf life of an aqueous dispersion of a contrasting agent by using a specified compound and a specified polymer. SOLUTION: The sensitive material has a photosensitive silver halide, a reducible silver salt, a reducing agent, a binder and at least one compound selected from compounds of formulae I-III on the substrate and has at least one compound selected from a compound of formula IV, a polymer having repeating units derived from a monomer of formula V and a compound of formula VI. In the formulae I-III, R1-R3, X and Y are each H or a substituent, Z is an electron withdrawing group, R4 is a substituent and A and B are each alkoxy, alkylthio or the like. In the formulae IV-VI, X1-X3 are each the residue of a photographic inhibitor having an N-containing heterocycle, J is a divalent bonding group, B1 is a ballast group, (n) is an integer of >=1, Q is an ethylenically unsaturated group or the like and A1 is a group having a water-soluble group.
