PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an erasing device capable of efficiently erasing a radiation image remaining on a photostimulable phosphor sheet without enormously generating heat energy. SOLUTION: In this erasing device, the radiation image remaining on the photostimulable phosphor sheet 1 used in a radiation image recording and reproducing method is erased by irradiating the sheet 1 with erasing light. The device is formed in the shape of a box equipped with the light source of erasing light inside and is provided with a diffusing reflection plate 33a whose light reflectance in the wavelength range of 400 to 800 nm is >=92% as a relative reflectance to a standard plate at least on part of the inner wall of the box.
