PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of a fuel cell and enhance its generating efficiency by rationally improving a structure for preliminarily reforming a material fuel gas. SOLUTION: In this fuel cell, a plurality of unit cells C' each provided with an oxygen pole 2 on one surface of an electrolyte layer 1 and a fuel pole 3 on the other surface thereof are juxtaposed so as to be equipped with oxygen- containing gas passages s on the side of the oxygen pole 2 and fuel gas passages f on the side of the fuel pole 3, and a reforming part R provided with a reforming catalyst allowing gases to pass therethrough for reforming a material fuel gas of hydrocarbon into a hydrogen-containing gas by using water vapor is provided so as to reform the material fuel gas supplied and to supply the reformed gas to the fuel gas passages f of each of the plurality of unit cells C'. The plurality of unit cells C' are juxtaposed with inlets fi of the respective fuel gas passages f fronting on the same side, and the reforming part R is provided so as to face on and stand close to the inlets fi of the respective fuel gas passages f. |
