PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization light source which is a light source to provide white light output by using the LED of different radiation luminance and color and has a larger output than 50% of the output of an original light source whose light is not polarized. SOLUTION: The lighting source 70 incorporates the light source 71, a condensing unit 72 condensing the light of the light source 71 and illuminating an exit aperture 76 and an image formation optical element 73 forming an image of the light from the exit aperture 76 on the surface of optical modulator 74. Though the light source 71 has a two-dimensional radiation pattern which is a radiation pattern having luminosity changing as the function of a position, a two-dimensional luminosity pattern at the position of the exit aperture 76 is made comparatively uniform by the condensing unit 72.
