PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a pickup for writing and/reading a signal for a disk to be stably transported. SOLUTION: A pickup 6 is mounted on a carriage 34 to be transported in a radius direction of a disk. A right-hand end of the carriage 34 is slidably engaged with a guide rail 32 which guides and transports the carriage 34 in the disk radius direction. A left-hand end of the carriage 34 is slidably engaged with a sub guide rail 33. Since the sub guide rail 33 is arranged in a direction that obliquely crosses the guide rail 32, non-uniform wear in which only a certain portion in an engaged section 34b is worn away is prevented from occurring, and a transportation position of the carriage 34 with respect to a signal recording surface of a disk 5 is unlikely to incline. Thus, precision in a signal readout is prevented from decreasing.
