摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device by which a projection screen is highly uniformly radiated with excellent luminance by improving the utilization efficiency of light emitted by a lamp than before at a light source using an elliptic surface reflector. SOLUTION: The light emitted by the lamp 8 arranged at the first focus of the elliptic reflector 1 diverges by a concave lens 2a before it is converged. Then, it is converted into parallel light by a convex lens 2b. Many light beams are made incident on an effective angle range to a fly-eye lens 3a, so that the utilization efficiency of the light is improved. Thus, the utilization efficiency of reflected light from the elliptic reflector is more improved, and an effect to raise screen illuminance is obtained.
