PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of automatically determining the deterioration of an oxidizing catalyst while continuing measurement, capable of simply detecting even the abnormality of a metering device, a solenoid valve or a piping without using a sensor for determining flow abnormality and capable of accurately analyzing the components in a liquid sample. SOLUTION: It is repeatedly performed that a liquid sample metered by a metering device is injected into a heated reaction pipe to be evaporated and oxidized by the oxidizing catalyst provided to the combustion part of the reaction pipe, that the formed gas is measured by a detector, and that the component in the liquid sample is analyzed from a plurality of the obtained measuring signals A, B. In this case, a time lagΔt between the peaks P1, P2, P3, P4 appearing in one measuring signal is monitored and, when the time lagΔt is larger than a constant time, the deterioration of the oxidizing catalyst is determined.
