摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device provided with a wide dynamic range capable of obtaining sufficient contrast (gradation) in a dominant high luminance part on a screen. SOLUTION: For first video signals picked up by opening a diaphragm 1-1 and second video signals picked up by narrowing the diaphragm 1-1, lightness distribution (histogram) for each same data level is detected for the entire screen or a certain area for A/D converted image data for respective pixel signals from the second video signals. At prescribed lightness H1 or more, signals for which the first video signals are level compressed in a compression circuit 6 are multiplied (attenuated) by a multiplication coefficient equal to or less than 1 decided from a histogram detected result from the signals of the prescribed lightness H2 or more, the second video signals are multiplied (amplified) by the multiplication coefficient equal to or more than 1 decided from the histogram detected result from the signals of the prescribed lightness H2 or more and the attenuated signals and the amplified signals are added. Thus, the gradation of the part especially dominant in the high luminance part is obtained.
