PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a life of a photoreceptor drum from lowering as a result of a charging roller being soiled by toner or the like. SOLUTION: This image forming device is allowed to uniformly charge the photoreceptor drum 1 surface by holding the charging roller 2 in contact with the photoreceptor drum 1 surface, and applying a charging voltage with the integration of AC bias and the DC bias by a static charge bias applying power source 7. In accordance with the use, the residual toner stays on the charging roller surface. The device is allowed to equip an attachable and detachable cleaning member 8 on the charging roller 2, to detect an ascent of the effective value of current flow made to flow to the photoreceptor drum 1 by the detecting device 9, and to clean the charging roller 2, when the above value reaches the specific value, by holding the cleaning member 8 in contact with the charging roller 2. In such a manner, the device is made possible to prevent the photoreceptor drum 1 from lowering a service life in consequence of the soiling on the charging roller 2 owing to the toner or the like, and to maintain the excellent image quality over a long period. |
