PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower power consumption of indication quality during turn-off of an auxiliary light source and improve indication quality during turn-off of the auxiliary light source. SOLUTION: The time piece has a first liquid crystal display panel having a first liquid crystal layer 10 and a second liquid crystal display panel having a second crystal panel layer 30 placed below the first liquid crystal panel. It also has a segment electrode where pixel part of the first liquid crystal display panel and the pixel part of the second liquid crystal display panel. Below the second liquid crystal display panel, a translucent reflection plate 28 and an auxiliary light source 29 are provided. For the first liquid crystal layer 10, a liquid crystal layer capable of controlling scattering state or transparent state by voltage is employed. During turn-off of the auxiliary light source, the second liquid crystal display panel is not driven and during turn-on of the auxiliary light source, the second liquid crystal display panel is driven in this employer method. |
