PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a long service life of a discharge lamp such as a fluorescent lamp by suppressing the deterioration of electrodes. SOLUTION: This lighting circuit 2 of a discharge lamp 1 comprises a thermal electron generation circuit (F1, F2) for feeding heating currents to a pair of electrodes 11, 12 of the discharge lamp 1, respectively, and a main discharge circuit (L2, C1, C2, C3, R) for applying a high voltage between the pair of electrodes 11, 12. In this case, a timer switch 21 that starts when the thermal electron generation circuit is turned on, and turns on the main discharge circuit after a predetermined delay time has elapsed, is provided. |
