PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image transmission method capable of minimizing the omission of the information amount of transmission image data at the time of transmitting original images by a resolution smaller than the resolution of the read original image and receiving readable images on a reception side and to provide facsimile equipment using it. SOLUTION: This equipment is provided with a calculation means 11 for calculating the ratio of the black pixels of the read original image and a thinning means 6 for thinning the original image while selecting whether to generate the image data of one line by omitting one of the image data of plural main scanning lines successive in the sub-scanning direction of the original image or to generate the image data of one line by obtaining OR by a pixel unit among the image data of the successive plural main scanning lines based on the ratio of the black pixels of a line unit on the original image calculated in the calculation means 11 when the resolution at the time of transmitting the read original image is smaller than the resolution at the time of read.
