摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of suppressing the occurrence of light leakage and a disclination line by suppressing the occurrence of an abnormal alignment region at the time of voltage impression. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device constituted by holding liquid crystal (30) between a pair of substrates (an active matrix substrate 10 and a counter substrate 20) and forming electrodes (pixel electrodes 12) to at least one substrate of a pair of the substrates is formed with slopes (tapers 12a) inclined with respect to one substrate plane at the electrodes. As a result, the light leakage from the boundary parts between the pixels may be prevented when the voltage is impressed to the electrodes. Such prevention is achieved by controlling the electric lines of force of the transverse electric fields impressed between the electrodes by the slopes formed at the electrodes. The light leakage from conventional abnormal alignment region can be suppressed by the formation of the slopes.
