PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical electric double layer capacitor, which is high in an electrostatic capacity as a capacitor, and maintains mechanical strength capable of withstanding use or the like. SOLUTION: In an electric double layer capacitor 1, which is provided with at least two electrolyte-impregnated solid active carbonaceous electrodes 2, an insulative porous separator 3, which is provided between the electrodes 2 and 2 and is laminated, and current-collecting bodies 4 provided on the upper and lower surfaces of a laminated material, the electrodes 2 consists of an active carbon and the component of carbon other than the active carbon, and the rate of the face (100) of the active carbon is set at a ratio higher than or equal to 7% of all the crystal faces. |
