PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device high in reliability and high in production yield without causing any short circuit. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device 15 is produced by preparing a scanning substrate 7 by successively depositing a color filter 4, a transparent electrode 5 and an alignment layer 6 on a glass substrate 2, preparing a signal substrate 11 by successively depositing a transparent electrode 8 and an alignment layer 16 on a glass substrate 3, then laminating the two substrates with a sealing member 11 containing a large number of conductive particles, and sealing a liquid crystal layer between the substrates. The alignment layer 16 is extended to the sealing member 11 so that the alignment layer 16 is present between the electrode extended part 8a and the sealing member 11 to prevent short circuit of the adjacent electrode extended part 8a (transparent electrode 8).
