PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately correct the pixel defect of an image pickup element corresponding to conditions and to provide excellent images. SOLUTION: In a coordinate memory 28, the pixel address of a defective pixel corresponding to each attribute such as the kind of a scratch due to the pixel defect and the degree is stored. A control part 26 reads the pixel address of the attribute corresponding to the operation condition of a camera 10 from the coordinate memory 28, converts the pixel address corresponding to the memory address of image data temporarily stored in a frame memory 39 inside a digital signal processing part 38 and supplies the converted memory address 124 to the signal processing part 38. Thus, the defect of the appropriate pixel corresponding to the conditions is corrected.
