PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an economical holder by forming a flat face on each of a pair of lead wires projecting from one principal plane of a metallic base so that the pair of flat faces lie on a single plane. SOLUTION: A pair of lead wires 4 which projects through one principle plane of a metallic base 3 and whose cross-section is circular is processed so that part of the surfaces of the lead wires are flat from the root to the upper end and the obtained flat surfaces are coplanar. Further, the part of the pair of lead wires 4 where their cross-sections are circular is formed as a hermetic terminal while penetrating the base 3. Further, step parts 10 are formed on the root part side of the pair of lead wires 4 by forming part of the wires penetrating the principal plane side into a flat face from the root part side to the upper end by pressing. The extending outer peripheral parts of the extraction electrodes of a piece of quartz crystal are stuck to the parts 10 with a conductive adhesive while facing the flat face. Since planar plate faces are formed on the pair of lead wires 4 with such a configuration, a holder 1 for a crystal oscillator can be manufactured at a low cost.
