PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly safe battery-operated electric appliance by provid ing a mechanical structure capable of detaching a battery cover only when the appliance is in a stop condition. SOLUTION: In this battery operated-electric appliance equipped with a slide switch 2 mounted to an appliance body 1 to switch on and off the appliance and a battery cover 3 to replace a battery, a mechanical lock structure to make the battery cover 3 detachable from the appliance body 1 only when the appliance is in a stop condition, by interlocking with the sliding operation of the switch 2, is provided in the appliance body 1.
