BACK LIGHT FOR LIQUID CRYSTAL

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back light which is capable of performing an illumination in which images are easy to see by allowing a liquid crystal screen to emit light with uniform brightness. SOLUTION: The back light for making light incident with an LED 7 as a light source from the edge 3a on the flank of a light guiding plate 3 and allowing the light to be transmitted to a liquid crystal panel 5 side is provided with a light diffusion surface 6b for reflecting the light in a direction along the edge 3a and diffusing the light over a wide range in addition to a reflection surface 6a for making the light incident perpendicular on the edge 3a in a light source chamber 6 of a housing 2 for housing the LED. In addition, a clearance 3b is formed by chamfering on the front surface side of the edge 3a to totally reflect the light directly escaping to the liquid crystal panel 5 side and to return the light to the inside of the light guiding plate 3, thereby suppressing the light emission of high luminance.
