PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relieve load on a network and to shorten the response time of document acquisition by judging whether or not document transmission from a server side to a client side is necessary by using a message digest. SOLUTION: A user indicates the acquisition of a document through an input device 11. A document acquiring process program 13 requests a document distributing process program 21 to obtain the message digest. The document distributing process program 21 generates the message digest according to the document received from a document generating process program 23 and sends it to the document acquiring process program 13. The program 13 performs retrieval to find whether or not the document matching the received message digest is saved in a local cache storage area 14, and requests the document distributing process program 21 to acquire the document when not.
