PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an optical recording medium capable of recording and reproducing data with short wavelength laser beams and having excellent light resistance and storage stability by incorporating at least one kind of pyrrolopyrrole deriv. into a recording layer on a substrate. SOLUTION: The recording layer contains at least one kind of pyrrolopyrrole deriv. expressed by the formula. In the formula, X is O, S; R1 is H or a methyl group, ethyl group or phenyl group; each of R2 to R11 is H, a halogen atom, cyano group, nitro group, sulfonate group or 1-5C alkyl group. Preferably the compd. of the formula is mixed with a cyanine dyestuff, phthalocyanine dyestuff or azo metal chelate compd. which are dyestuff having the absorption max. wavelength in a 650 to 750 nm region, in 10/100 to 90/100 mixing ratio to constitute a CD-R medium responding to a short wavelength. Thereby, a recording material for an optical recording medium can be obtd. which can be used for a high-density optical disk system using a semiconductor laser having the oscillation wavelength in a short wavelength region of <=650 nm. |
