PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate burdens of having a user memorize a password and to ensure the security in the case of printing a secret document in a printing system constituted of a host computer and a printer connected to a network. SOLUTION: The host computer 1 is provided with a means for preparing the password of an individual printing job, the means for adding the password to the printing job and transmitting it to the printer 2 and the means for recording the password in a floppy disk. The printer 2 is provided with the means for extracting the password from the printing job received from the host computer, the means for extracting the password from the floppy disk and the means for collating the passwords. Also, only in the case that the two passwords match, images prepared from the printing job are printed.
