PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance operability in the case an information terminal conducts data communication. SOLUTION: The information terminal comprises a line connection detection circuit 19 that detects that a public telephone line is connected to the communication port and a CPU 11 that establishes a data communication state utilizing a public telephone line by activating an application software program on the basis of the detection result. When the line connection detection circuit 19 detects that the public telephone line is connected to the communication port, the CPU 11 activates the application software program on the basis of the detection result and establishes a data communication state utilizing the public telephone line. Thus, the operability of the information terminal in the case of conducting data communication can be enhanced.
