PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to easily prevent the increase of loss, damage, etc., even if abrupt tensile force and bending force acts on an optical fiber cord by inserting a coated optical fiber into an armor which is stretchable along a longitudinal direction so as to have a clearance. SOLUTION: The coated optical fiber 11 enclosing an optical fiber body 11a with a protective coating is constituted by inserting the coated fiber into the helical armor 13 consisting of the material, such as resin or rubber, of stretchability to have a space in the armor. When such optical fiber cord 10 is accidentally hooked during laying work, etc., and the tension is exerted thereon, only the armor 23 elongates along the longitudinal direction and, therefore, the tension applied on the coated optical fiber 11 is extremely diminished. Namely, when the tension is exerted on the optical fiber cord 10, the rising of the tension with respect to the elongation turns gentle. Then, even if the abrupt tensile force is applied on the optical fiber cord, the increase of the loss, the damage, etc., may be easily prevented according to such constitution.
