PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the possibility of a waste of power due to omission of resetting by providing a resetting means capable of automatically resetting data of a cumulative lighting time of a nonvolatile memory, and to contribute to power savings by urging the replacement of an old fluorescent lamp. SOLUTION: This fluorescent lamp lighting device is provided with a nonvolatile memory 24 for recording a cumulative lighting time of a fluorescent lamp 23. The fluorescent lamp lighting device controls the optical output of the fluorescent lamp 23 so as to set it nearly constant by referring to the cumulative lighting time in the nonvolatile memory 24. When the cumulative lighting time in the nonvolatile memory 24 reaches a predefined life reference value, the data at that time is forcibly reset regardless of whether the fluorescent lamp 23 is replaced or not. The forcible reset is executed by a main control circuit 22 having a program for it, and a function for executing the program. |
