PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device that records and reproduces information on a recording carrier, conducts a safe and stable track jump detection in both real time and non-real time recordings of continuous data and does not degrade the reliability of the data and a real time system. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a first track jump detecting means 110 which detects the fact that the positional deviation between light beams and a track exceeds a prescribed value and has a fast detecting speed, and a second track jump detecting means 111 which has a slow detecting speed and a high detection precision and makes no maldetection. A recording stopping means 104 selects either one of the means 110 or 111 depending on the operating condition of the device, discriminates the fact that the output of the device becomes a prescribed condition and stops a recording operation.
