PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flexible buffer material for buffering the transmission element of a communication cable having an elastic modulus usable over a wide temperature range. SOLUTION: In a communication cable 10 with a transmission element disposed in a buffer tube made of a buffer material of a thermoplastic polyolefin elastomer, the buffer material has about <500 MPa elastic modulus at room temperature and about <1,500 MPa elastic modulus at -40 deg.C. The thermoplastic polyolefin elastomer material forming the buffer tube 14 preferentially has about <500% breaking extension and a melt flow index of about >3.
