PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a size and weight by reducing the thickness of the entire part of the optical system and to prevent an increase in the size of the optical system and an increase in its cost in spite of dealing with high-fineness images since an LCD is not used by using a reflection mirror consisting of a rear surface reflection mirror or surface reflection mirror for a pupil transmission lens. SOLUTION: The signal light 3 emitted from an image signal generator 2 as a light beam emitting means for emitting the light beam corresponding to an image signal is scanned so as to two-dimensionally shake the optical path of the signal light 3 according to a synchronizing signal so as to form an image by the two-dimensional scanning reflection mirror 6 as a scanning means disposed at a reflection optical element 4. The two-dimensional scanning reflection mirror 6 is the reflection mirror made of thin and light silicon formed by a semiconductor process and the front surface of the reflection mirror is subjected to coating with reflection films. The incident luminous flux on such two-dimensional scanning reflection mirror 6 is converging light and the signal light 3 scanned by the two-dimensional scanning reflection mirror 6 is made incident on the pupil projection lens 7.
