PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a monitoring system incorporating the function required for remote monitoring while the operational cost is suppressed to the minimum, by transmitting information from a measuring station to a base station for storage and display, only when the base station requests the measuring station to transmit the information through a transmission circuit. SOLUTION: Only when a base station 200 makes a picture displaying request, picture data are transferred and, when a warning is issued, an on-site measuring station 100 only transfers a warning signal and the information indicating means 22, such as warning red rotary light, etc., of the base station 200 is turned on. The warning issuing data, in addition, are automatically recorded in a digital signal processing means 13 at the measuring station 100. For monitoring the measured signals at the measuring station 100, picture display is performed at the base station 200 by transferring data only when the station 200 makes a picture monitoring request including the warning issuing time, but, actually, the preceding warning signal data can be called and confirmed at the time of confirming the measured data from the base station 200, because the data are automatically recorded in the measuring station 100 when the warning is issued.
