摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information recording medium which enables further high-speed and high-density recording by improving the cooling performance of the recording medium, decreasing the deformation in overwriting marks and forming a medium of high permeability. SOLUTION: The medium is produced by successively laminating a protective layer 2, an interface layer 3, a recording layer 4 in which optical characteristics are reversibly changed by irradiation of laser light, an interface layer 5, a light-transmitting reflection layer 6 which transmits the laser light at the wavelength 1, and a thermal diffusion layer 7 on a substrate 1. The film thickness (d) of the thermal diffusion layer 7 is controlled to satisfy 0<d<=(5/16)&lambda;/n or (7/16)&lambda;/n<=d<=(1/2)&lambda;/n, wherein (n) is the refractive index of the thermal diffusion layer 7.
