PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a retrieval efficiency by scrolling a distance corresponding to a distance between a reference position and a mouse point in the direction from the reference position toward the mouse point on a screen displaying a map. SOLUTION: This device indicates a scrolling target P by a mouse cursor on a map being displayed, calculates a distance between the original point and the indicated point P, takes out a scrolling ratio K, and calculates an actual scrolling amount R decided by the ratio K and a distance (r) between O and P. If the device contains a map of a display area after the map is scrolled to a position P1, the mouse cursor arrow is changed so as to match with the scrolling direction. The scrolling distance R is compared with specified reference values R1, R2, and if R>=R2, a small size character layer is omitted from a scrolling target, and if R1<R<R2, large and middle size character layers are targeted for scrolling, and if R1>=R, all character sizes are targeted for scrolling without character omission. The display area is shifted (scrolled) according to this result. |
